Her take on so many things, Bible or not, will be missed, a rational voice in the midst of the more hating versions of Christianity.īut, in the midst of this sorrow we always get a few uglier people rejoicing over her death, this time being led by hater in chief Lori Alexander of The Transformed Wife. But for me it was part of my healing journey out of my old Quiverfull church. It took some quite funny and strange turns. This book was where she examined how the women of the Bible lived. Shortly after I left my first toxic church, when I was still crying every day over the river of hate being flung my way Rachel made me laugh with her book “A Year of Biblical Womanhood”. I’ll miss her, she was a delightful woman who had the courage to take unpopular stances against the more toxic ideas in the Evangelical world. Like Hemant of The Friendly Atheist I have had my own correspondence with Rachel. Many of my favorite other Patheos bloggers have already said all the good things there are to say about Rachel and her shocking death.
